The grounds invite you to take a stroll or relax on one of the
garden benches, take a deep breath and watch the humming birds.
Step out on a clear evening and see the stars as you have never
seen before. The Northern Lights are visible many winter evenings.
Nature abounds at Dakota Lodge. Guests report seeing bald eagles,
hawks, red and Grey fox, possum, porcupine, black bear, beaver,
wood ducks and if they are very lucky our Sandhill Cranes may fly
by and give their call.
Just minutes from our Lodge is Minnesota's largest state park-
St. Croix State Park. The park has many trails to walk or bike,
you can go on a canoe trip or just picnic by the river. The Lodge
is an ideal stop over or an easy drive to total relaxation
The little town of Hinckley became popular as the halfway point
between the Twin Cities, and Duluth. A small bakery named Tobies
marks the site of the old Greyhound Bus stop. Today, Tobies is a
large restaurant and bakery that serves thousands of meals and cups
of coffee each day. Hinckley also has a very popular Grand Casino,
golf course, flea market, fire museum, and antique mall.
